Our school

Abbeyhill Primary is a co-educational and non-denominational school located in the heart of old Edinburgh, overlooking the Palace of Holyroodhouse and Arthur’s Seat. The school caters for children from Primary 1 to Primary 7, and has a Nursery class which provides pre-school education for children aged 3-5 years.

We pride ourselves on being at the heart of our community with strong links to the Palace, local businesses and the annual Colony of Artists festival. We have built strong relationships with the Collective Gallery on Calton Hill and fully utilise Queen’s Park for Forest Adventures and outdoor learning from Nursery – P7. Our central position in the city makes it easy to use the countless amenities and educational opportunities offered within the city such as visiting the Parliament, Dynamic Earth, central galleries and museums, festivals, theatres and the cinema. We value the support of our parents who often suggest new experiences and are always welcome to help in school and out on trips.

We are part of the Drummond Community High School cluster and work closely with the high school as well as Broughton and Leith Walk primary schools who are also part of the cluster. We also work with Prospect Bank and Pilrig Park special schools which are also part of our cluster. Over the last few years, we have supported Drummond as they have developed a strong transition programme and the majority of Abbeyhill pupils enrol at Drummond for S1.
