School Lunches

School Meals

Menus offer healthy and tasty meal options while reflecting the food and drink legal requirements for school lunches as defined by the Scottish Government.  Special diets and allergies are accommodated subject to consultation with parent/care-giver and catering services. View the current school lunch menu here (please select ‘Edinburgh Catering Menu’).

Meal prices are reviewed annually and the current price is £2.25 per day for P4 – 7. Children in P1 – 3 are entitled to a free school meal.  Meals should be paid for and/or ordered by Parent Pay a week in advance Please note that in line with City of Edinburgh Council policy, all primary schools are cashless. Menus are available on our website and change once per year. We send home a 3 week menu cycle sheet when each new menu comes out so you don’t need to fill it in more than once per year – unless your child changes their mind about what they would like!

Packed Lunches

If you prefer to provide a healthy packed lunch for your child, a supervised area is provided in school.

Free School Meals

Some families may be eligible for free school meals. Application forms are available from the school office. The forms have to be completed by the parent along with supporting documentation as detailed on the application form.  Please note an application is required for every school session and should be completed prior to the summer holiday to ensure eligible pupils are provided with a meal at the beginning of term. Your child will not be provided with a meal free of charge until this form is received and processed, so late applications will result in you having to provide lunch in the meantime.

You can claim free school lunches for your children if you are receiving:

  • Income Support (IS)
  • Income-based Job Seeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Any income related element of Employment and Support Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit (CTC), but not Working Tax Credit, and your income is less than £16,105
  • Both maximum Child Tax Credit and maximum Working Tax Credit and your income is under £6,420
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Universal Credit

If you match these conditions and do not receive any element of Working Tax Credit you can also claim a Clothing Grant.

Further information on free school meals and clothing grants is available on the CEC website www.edinburgh.gov.uk
