We’ve been back from the February break for nearly a week and lots of children have been enjoying our new breakfast club which opened on Monday 23rd February. Breakfast Club is run by Scoosh, our After School care providers, and is open from 0730 each day serving breakfast in the Dinner Hall and providing care until the bell goes at 0855. If you would like to use the Breakfast Club there is no need to book, just turn up! We have lots of working parents who have commented that having a club would make life easier in the morning so hopefully we’re helping your mornings to run more smoothly! Breakfast Club is priced at £2.50 per day.
We still have a lot of work going on in the main building where we are having all of our windows replaced. This is a big job, not only because of the amount of windows we have but because of the size of them! I’m pleased to say that the contractors are more than half way through the job and are on schedule to finish by the Easter holidays. All the classrooms have now been completed so thank you to all the classes who had to move whilst their room was done; this caused disruption but everyone worked hard to ensure that it was minimal. The girls toilets which have been under repair since I started at Abbeyhill in August are just about to open as well which will be fantastic.
Over the February break we had a new security system installed which means that staff access the buildings using a swipe card rather than entering a code. This is not only easier but also more secure as there were always eagle eyed children who delighted in telling us that they had memorised the codes! The buzzer has been removed from the back of the main building so all visitors must now come to the front door on Abbey Street.
Looking ahead, we’ve got lots of exciting things happening before the Easter holidays start on 2nd April such as World Book Day next week, Red Nose Day and a P6 & P7 community clean up so keep checking the website and follow us on Twitter @AbbeyhillPS to keep up with all our news!
