Visiting Artist – Tessa Lynch

After a recent enjoyable trip to Calton Hill, P4 had a follow up visit from local artist Tessa Lynch to work on an activity that focused on sketching the Edinburgh City sky line. The pupils worked together to draw their favourite buildings of the skyline using lines and shapes to create their images. A lot of team work and communication was needed to create the charcoal skyline pictures which are now proudly displayed in our classroom.

It’s oh ‘sew’ quiet…

You could have heard a pin drop in Primary 4 this week as the children were concentrating so hard on learning a new skill. We used rainbow wool and binca to create a small needlework sampler using three different stitches. Everyone thought that learning this new craft was awesome!

Putting things into perspective

Primary 4 have been exploring the concept of perspective in their art work. They looked at the work of the famous artist, Canaletto. They used his technique of making the items in the foreground larger and the items in the background smaller to create perspective.
