Primary 3 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the Talbot Rice Gallery at the University of Edinburgh last Monday. The pupils loved seeing the sculptures of Wojtek the bear and hearing all about how he helped the Polish soldiers in World War 2. The magic piano was definitely a highlight, and the pupils also loved seeing how the beautiful stained glass window installations changed the light, colour and mood of each room in the gallery. We ended our visit by making our own stained glass windows using an alphabet code to make them all individual to our own names.
Our fabulous parents at Abbeyhill Primary School organised an International Afternoon last Friday, with food galore from countries all around the world, along with arts, crafts, and entertainment from parents and pupils celebrating the diverse backgrounds and cultures that we have here at Abbeyhill. It was a tremendous success! A HUGE thank you to all of the parents who helped to organise the event, who ran activties on the day and who made all of the delicious food. A special mention also to Freddie, who certainly had the best “chilli challenge” face, and to Brooke, Claire and Charlotte who entertained the crowds with their fabulous dancing. A fantastic way to end the term!
